    my laptop keeps over heating & cutting out it isn the battery i wonder if it could be the fan isnt working properly

    Could be. There is an entry and exit in your computer to allow air movement. Don't block these areas. Also, if you are running on just battery, check your settings. It might be timing out on you. One other thing, if plugged in, sometimes the transformer isn't working right, and will not provide enough voltage to keep the computer running.
    u should go to the closest PC store and let them have a look
