Buy lots and lots of winter clothes. The winters are long. Carry survival supplies in your car, in case you break down. Have a back up heat source that isn't electric in your home. Camping gear is good.
I do not know the cost of living there, or the job market.
It's a pretty place. The winter sports are abundant, enjoy!
