I stopped mine had my uterus removed when I was 27 :) best thing I did but I did that for my health, you shouldn't stop your period really its not very health , its a females bodies way of cleaning itself.. But as Jh said you can do it with Birth control...

I stopped mine with birth control. Doesn't work for everybody but, it worked for me.....

Speaking of periods, I went to a really tough high school. In my English class, the teacher asked a student what comes at the end of a sentence. He answered, "an appeal."

Get pregnant,  that stops them for about 9 to 10 months.  I don't advise this as the best method, but it will shut off your ovaries at least temporally.
