      seal the stain with primer 1st.

        Use a product that contains white pigmented shellac. Kiltz is also an excellent product carried by most box stores and hardware stores.  Let dry then paint with your color.

          Another product to seal the stain is "Zinsser" B.I.N.Shellac based sealer.
