Good question.  Book value is comprised of tangible and intangible assets.  How can you really be sure about intangible assets such as the value of the brand name of Coca Cola?  For that matter, how do you really figure the hard assets or tangibles such as the building headquarter for Proctor and Gamble in Cincinati, Ohio?  I would look into reports by the S&P for information such as book value, or go to www.seekingalpha.com for such information.  Once you have found out the book value, you take the price of stock divided by its book value and that'll be your answer.
