    if the #2 pencil is the most popular, why's it still #2?

    The #2 indicates the hardness of the lead in the pencil.  #3 lead is harder than #2.  As the numbers go up the lead gets harder and the marks are lighter.  The harder the lead the longer the pencil will last. 

    cause if your number one you cant get any better!
