Ireland is a member of the Common Travel Area along with the UK and therefore British citizens do not need a passport to visit Ireland. However, travellers to Ireland are advised to carry their British passports with them for the purposes of checking by the Irish immigration officers. Dublin is the capital City of Ireland.
