Your doctor should provide you with dietary guidelines.
My mom and a cousin of mine are kidney dialysis patients. They have little/no kidney function.
I know their diets are restricted as far as liquids (about 32 oz. per day), tomatoes, potatoes, nuts, potassium.
My cousin did have a kidney transplant about 20 years ago. During the time the kidney functioned (about 15 years, which is an incredibly long life for a transplanted kidney), her diet did not seem to be restricted at all.
