Remove the stem and some sand and eat it. It's sooooooo good. When you buy figs, don't try to buy the cheapest kind: the kind with a lot of sand. Why? The people that harvest these will pick them from the trees and these are the best and most delicious. The ones that fall to the ground first are often times too ripe and get mixed in with sand, and that's not a good feeling for your teeth.
