      when chooks lived in the wild , they roam all over the place and when the hen is ready to lay an egg , stops to do so whilst the others have moved on. when the egg is laid she cackles until the rooster hear her and he crows till she finds her way back to them.

        My hens don't. They never have. They only make a noise when there is a cat hanging around.

          No, we are not allowed to keep roosters in a residential area. We can only keep up to five chooks.

          same reason that women yell when giving birth. As it says in the Book of Genesis 'In pain shall you bring forth children'. It's all the fault of Adam's sin in the Garden of Eden.
