One egg has a miniscule and often inconsequential amount of carbohydrates.
Whether you enjoy them hard-boiled, scrambled, poached or made into an omelet, eggs are a quick and nutritious treat that can be eaten alone or mixed with other foods. Although you probably know they’re packed with protein -- and a concerning amount of cholesterol -- you might wonder how many carbs those fresh little eggs contain.
In their most natural form, eggs contain very little cholesterol. According to the National Agricultural Library, a large egg has just around 0.4 grams of carbohydrates. Roughly 45 to 65 percent of your total daily calories should come from carbohydrates. So, on a 1,600-calorie-per-day diet, about 720 to 1,040 calories should come from carbs. Each gram of carbohydrate has 4 calories -- which means you’ll need about 180 to 260 grams per day. So that one large egg makes no significant contribution toward that goal.
