Red Skelton was a man of integrity. Never spoke a swear word in any of his acts and was the funniest comedian of his time. He had talent no one can duplicate. He was an artist and wrote his own music for his shows. He can never be surpassed.

Carroll Burnett was a funny lady.

Just a few for this side of the pond, Tommy Cooper,Benny Hill,Eric Morcombe,Eric Sykes,Jimmy Edwards,Oh and Bob Hope I believe he was born over here, one of the greatest.

    ole hipster

I take it you're in the UK. I certainly remember Benny Hill! My Dad loved him! He's on syndication here with his reruns from years back. I still tune in!

Yes have heard he is still popular in the USA.Some people over hear say we have a different sense of humour, but we can't be that different if you appreciate Benny Hill, my mother used to say he was too rude for television, how things have changed.

    steven wright...his humor is rightous
I guess I'm old fashioned, but I like the old clean humor. The Carrol Burnett show was one of my favorites when I was a kid. I recently met Tim Conway before his show, he was such a down to earth person.

I like Carol Burnett and company. They were very funny.

Good stuff, Tim Conway said in his show that he was one of the writers, he also did the dentist sketch, it was hilarious...
    Jackie Gleason & Red Skelton

Loved Bob Hope when I was a kid, but Steve Martin will always be my #1 comic.

Richard Pryor. Love his characters. Plus he was very honest about himself and the world as he saw it.

I can't choose, Jonathan Winters, Red Skelton, Steve Martian, Richard Pryor and George Carlin. They were all great, and each one an original.

    ole hipster

Yes indeed, every single one absolutely funny as Hell! Thanks for your response. Am all out of thumbs ups!

    ole hipster

Have my TU allotment, so one up for you now that I can. And, you're right about it being hard to pick just one comedian as there are so many great ones. Thanks for answering. By the way, when's your birthdate??

    Ms Sinclair

I like them all too. We used to sit and watch Red Skelton every week with our mom when my brother and I were kids.

Richard Pryor! He was funny, an addict, he loved all races of people, and most of his jokes, was from true life experiences. Hey, Rich...R.I.P.!!!
