Different soaps for different folks, I’m having the same problem. I won’t mention the brand name but I’m not going to recommend it to friends. Next time I’m buying “safe for colors bleach” and see if that does the trick……...

Seldom are my clothes washed in hot water, most always cold/cold, and they seem to be holding up well, looking crisp and clean.  I use Tide, Arm and Hammer, or Cheer, and I don't separate whites from colors.  Towels and sheets, yes, but my clothes generally just all go in together, cold water, and a sheet of color guard...actually just a half sheet, which work like a miracle.

Fallaghman, Try spraying the  really dirty areas with a pre-clean agent. Then, take a brush and scrub said areas. Then, throw it into the machine. If it's white clothes that still look dirty, Bleach them.....but serparate them first from colored clothes.
