    If an engine holds 6 quarts of oil and looses 3 quarts of oil does that cause engine damage?

    it could possibly,is it making any strange noises,rods ,bearings,crankshaft.. if so the damage is done, if not top off the oil and run it at a low r.p.m. and let it idle for a while you might have gotton lucky

    Usually a car holds 5 quarts, but cars are going to use oil. As long as it's not more than a quart every 5,000 miles you should be fine.
