Luminous material is most often used in watchmaking for purely utilitarian purposes: it helps you read the time at night. It is far rarer to see it exploited for its aesthetic link potential, and frequently, and especially on dress watches, it seems almost apologetic, as if deep in its phosphorescent heart it knows link that while essential, it is not especially welcome, like a plumber showing up link at a black-tie affair to unblock a recalcitrant toilet.
