    Our house is 1,750 sq. ft. It has central, refrigerated air, My husband and I are home most of the time. we have been keeping the thermostat at 80 degrees. Our gas and electricity has been $335.00 recently. (average temp outside in august is 97) does that seem too high to you?

    you bet does. Most gas or electric companies will conduct a free inspection and tell you where you are losing your elctric or gas. Normally it is around windows ,doors, and attic that lose the most. Your bill should be around 200.00/month and could be less.  Get on this one you are losing lots of money.

    It seems a little high.  However, what's more important is the price per kilowatt has gone up too.  You should take out the bill from last year to compare usage first, then figure out how to cut usage.  Make sure you unplug appliances not in use.  Use fan instead of a/c.  We have a/c at home but never use it. 

    my house is about same size and last week i got the bill....   $ 235.80 .. thats the highest it has ever been.
