      I wasn't sure if they were asking about ole hipster, lol I grew up in the 60's. I don't recall hippies ever being referred to as hipsters. I thought hip meant cool. I would think hipster would be a word that was derived from hip rather than hippie.

          i think "hipster" comes from the 1960ies during the explosion of the "hippie generation" the root word being "hippie" now hipster, perhaps suggests a "hipster" was once a hippie!

          perhaps "old hipster" could give a better answer
