I am a 56-year old man, and have some of the symptoms of bladder cancer, such as hidden blood in urine, urgency to urinate and some lower back pain and slight discomfort or itching at the end of urinating. I was just diagnosed with a slightly enlarged prostate. I am having further tests. How likely is it that I have bladder cancer based on this information?

I also have a high uric acid count, and the symptoms are worse when I eat or drink acidic foods. For years I did drink a lot of soda and not enough water, but I never smoked.

Another possibility is kidney stones.  You could pass out blood when you urinate too.  This case is preferable to bladder cancer for sure.  Nonetheless, wait for the results and try not to worry.

Worrying is like paying interest on money you don't even know you owe.

an enlarged prostate, and bladder cancer are not necessarily connected. Even prostate cancer is not always connected with bladder cancer. But, you should ask you doctor these questions. Preferably, ask a urologist.

UTI?  Maybe.  It doesn’t sound like Cancer but you’ll have to find out for sure.
