    Can you have your water and plumbing pipes in a old house cleaned out?

    Yes, The pipes were changed in my house , and my parents' house. My house was built in 1956, and there's was built in 1926. What happened, was that they old galvanised pipes became rusty, got holes in them and were leaking. So, what a plumber does is......lays new PVC pipes along side the old galvanized pipes in your basement ceiling, and redirects the water to go thru the new pipes.

    If they are giving you a problem, at the age of the house, I'd just replace them. Many water pipes are not the clean little things we envision them to be. Many have what is like an algae begin to build up in them over many years. But, of course there are all types of different water situations out there. But, most do get a certain slime in them over the years.
