      It means blood sugar that is hard to control. I had patients that got 2 different kinds of insulin injections at one time.   Signed, a retired LPN

        Brittle blood sugar means uncontrolled Type 1 diabetes.  People with brittle blood sugar frequently experience large swings in blood sugar levels.  It can be caused by gastrointestinal absorption problems, includings tomach emptying, drug interactions, problems with insulin absorption or hormonal malfunctuion.
