Elephant gestation period:  22 -24 months  The elephant is one of the biggest brained and largest of land animals. With so much development to take place in the baby elephant, no wonder the mother needs two years of gestation period!

The average gestation period for horses (including miniatures) is 340 days or 11 months, give or take ten days. In warm weather, the mare will likely foal on the early side, whilst in a cold climate, she could carry a little longer.
