Methods used to sell real estate are the same methods used to sell anything. First, the salesperson needs "personality" (you have it or you don't) and then, the skills are taught. You can't teach "selling" to the "wrong personality". It just doesn't work!

Dwilk - Estate Agents here are not highly respected - I have heard them say if I were to say I was a shoplifter - I would get more respect. I suspect it is because they do not always tell the truth? about what they are selling and of course prioritise to whom they sell for monetary reasons. It is rather complex - not sure what really goes on - but their reputation is certainly poor.
