why name the Leonardo Cartoon 1498-99 with Ste Anne in lieu of Ste Elsabeth
The House of A.D. Braun & Cie made a reproduction of this cartoon in 1913 from the original Cartoon as was required by the House of Braun. The name TITLE shown on this Reproduction is:
La Vierge, l'Enfant Jésus, Sainte Élisabeth and Saint John; the face of the personnage is definetely
not Ste Anne but Ste Élisabeth.and It does make a lot of sense that the two mothers with their repective sons be represented by the Artist. The writer of this article has had for the last 50 years the reproduction intact with the original frame and glass.
