    How to install a sink basket strainer

    Assuming you already have the basket strainer, turn the package it came in over and read the directions. Make sure you clean the drain opening well, and put a 1/4" round string of plumber's putty around the opening. Set the basket in the opening, and put the rubber gasket on the bottom of the basket under the sink. Next, put the nut that will draw the basket down on the threaded part under the sink. There is a special wrench for tightening the nut, but you can also do it with water pump pliers if you are of a patient nature and don't mind pinching hell out of your fingers.
