We just purchased our first Mini about a month ago. It is NOT a turbo, but it has plenty of power for us. We love it and we get lots of looks from passers buy. My question is; Do we really need to use premium fuel? Dealer said we could fowel the injectors in time if we burn regular fuel. Is this really true.

Modern cars have computers, these computers are very smart and will adjust the fuel/air ratio as well as spark and a host of other jobs that in the past would leave you stranded on the highway.

Your car will probably run well on mid grade but to get it to run well on regular may cause problems because the computer can not adjust beyond it's programming.  You could have it reprogrammed or buy a pre programmed chip for it.  If I were you, I would stick to what the dealer says though. Usually when someone changes chips or reprograms the computer its because they want 'better performance' not lower performance.
