If Pauline started the first grade ( most schools resume classes in Aug/Sep) when she was 6 years old she celebrated her 7th birthday before the end of the school year. This means Pauline was 7 when she entered the 2nd grade. Since she has a March birthday she turned 8 before school dismissed for the summer which usually begins the end of May or the first part of June
