SPF has a few meanings, but I think that the most popular one, the one i'm assuming you meant, is the Sun Protector Factor, which tells you the effectiveness of a sunscreen against UV-B (the ultraviolet radiation that causes sunburn). The higher the spf, the higher is the protection
