I have a beagle. I named him digger because that's what he does. He digs for roots because he likes to eat them. Can't stop him. Some dogs just dig. Some dig out of boredom too. Give them toys or something to chew on to keep their minds busy. I doubt you can ever get them to stop. Just keep filling in the holes like I do. My dog/s are more important to me than holes in the yard are. Someday, digger will die. I will miss his holes then. That's what I think about when deciding what's more important.
