- Windows XP:
- Click Start > Run then in the run dialog type SNDREC32
- This will display the Sound Recorder.
- Click the red Record button and record some sound as you speak into the microphone.
- Click the square button to stop recording.
- Click the the << button to rewind.
- Click the > button to play.
- Do you hear your recorded sound?
- If not then there is a problem with your Windows sound recording or your microphone. Proceed to Step #2 to fix the problem.
- Windows Vista or 7
- Click the Start button , and type MMSYS.CPL in the StartSearch box, and then press the ENTER key. This opens the Sound dialog window.
- Select the Recording tab.
- Select the Microphone you want to configure.
- Click the Configure button. This displays a list of options to Configure Speech Recognition.
