Raw Salmon: This is very dangerous for dogs to ingest. It can contain a Rickettsial Organism(Parasite).
Symptoms occur app. 5-7 days after ingestion of the fish. Initial symptoms include Lethargy and Anorexia with temperature between 104-107 in the first couple of days.Temperature will turn to normal but there is persistent vomiting by the 4th day. Bloody diarreha will occur a few days after onset of vomiting.
In accute stages, gastrointestinal symptoms mimmic canine parvo with nasal and occular symptoms that resemble canine distemper. If left untreated the mortality rate is 90%.
