Now is the time to trim the grapes, before they start to grow. Twist, turn, and staple them anyway you want and they will grow from there. Don't worry about being too rough or hard on them, they will do alright after you do your trimming. I have four vines and with the exception of beetle infestations, do well each year with minimal help from me. But I still get out there every spring and cut, trim, and adjust as needed.
