IMO dogs should not be left outside on hot 

days period. If your dog must stay outside

during a hot day please make sure it has

shelter from the sun and plenty of fresh cool 

water. The water bowl should be checked at

least a couple of times a day, dumped and refilled

with cool water as needed.

Another way to help your dog stay cool on

a hot day is to buy a baby pool and add

a little water to it (aprox. 4 to 6 in).

I don't think the pool is a good idea to

use with a puppy or  very small breeds

because they may not be able to climb

out of the pool.

Are you trying to catch some buns for the hot dogs? If so -- Set them out!!

It you're going to eat them, put them inside a plastic container or something like that.......so the flys don't get on them . Flys breed bacteria
