I assume you are talking about your home site, not sure but anyway.....you may live in a neighborhood that has certain standards for construction. Municipalities also have rigid codes that they follow. It sometimes does not seem fair but I would not want my neighbor building a two story out house just because they own the property and they feel like they can. Restrictions are there to protect everyone and although you should be able to do what you want on your land, when folks live close together, there has to be some kind of structure to the madness.
