The way I make them is as follows:
Take a large or med. size alum. baking pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. While oven is pre-heating take one stick of butter place in baking pan allow butter to melt completely. Remove pan from oven. Mix your cake mix ( I usually use white cake mix and instead of water I use cooking oil makes it more moist and I also add about 2 TB of sour cream). After mixing cake mix up, take 1 box of dark brown sugar, empty into on top of melted butter of alum baking pan, take one large can of sliced pineapples (drained) and place each piece of pineapple on top of brown sugar and butter. I usually take a marchino cherry and place one in the middle of each slice of pineapple. Then pour cake batter on top of this and place in the pre-heated 350 degree oven and bake until done.
