Rehab is short for rehabilitation center. Some centers help people with substance abuse and alcoholism while others are for people who need physical rehabilitation after they recover from physically damaging trauma such as brain injury or loss of limb, sight, hearing or recovery from major surgery, like heart surgery, organ transplant, or some sort of reconstructive surgery, etc.
