Think very carefully about the idea of growing plants to turn into fuel. At this moment in time there are millions of starving people that we should consider how to feed. Turning food into fuel for our motor cars is an appalling idea. We are investing in R&D into electric motor cars and genetically modified plants. However that might sound it seems to be the best way forward if we are going to be able to feed ourselves in the future when our population is growing exponentially.
