The only slight sense of disappointment I ever felt about character watches is a link lot of the time they felt slightly disposable. Of course you link had things like the 17 jewel Bradleys but not without reason were character watches often called "novelty" watches with movements that would tend to lose link their life more or less in tandem with the novelty wearing off.
