    can fuel injection have a caburator

    I was looking at the engine of a 1970 chevelle. It had the aircleaner ahd below it what seemed to b a carburator but the engine seemed to have a fuel rail. What could thid be as there was only one rail and this was a v8

    1970 we weren't building American cars with fuel injection. Unless your car has aftermarket engine or had been modified it a carbureted engine. You say it has a 'fuel rail' As in FI. but I doubt that, without seeing it can't tell.   You're gone now but if you were here I would ask if the fuel rail has injectors attached.  Kinda redundant to have both. they are completely different delivery systems and will not work together.

    Nope! What you probably have is a throttle body.It looks like a carby but it is actually 2 fuel injectors.
