    the tread is evenly worn across but why only to the left and not to the right

    You could have a ball joint going bad causing the left tire to not meet the road correctly in a turn. Now I understand that after time, a bad ball joint will cause uneven wear but it could be that it's just now going bad. Have it checked anyway.
