The longstanding tradition of watchmaking in the region begins with A. Lange & Sohne. It was in 1845, link 175 years ago, when Adolf Lange officially set up his workshop after receiving a go-ahead from the government of Saxony after he submitted a link proposal that called for Glashutte to follow in the footsteps of the Vallee de Joux, link which had seen tremendous success as a watchmaking capital.
