First, the water resistance. Unlike just about every other watch I’ve ever owned (save for perhaps the monoblock case of the entirely overlooked Citizen Promaster PMX56-2811), the Amphibia 420380 does not use a conventional screwed link caseback. Instead, the caseback is made of two parts, a thick steel link plate that has alignment pins but no threading link and a ring that slides over the outer edge of the plate and screws it in place.

Its an incredible release for me and a reminder that physical objects are really just that physical objects. You carry that person with you not through those physical things but through your memories and experiences with them. The objects are simply there to help us recount those experiences.
