        It used to be a honeycomb of palladium and platinum-- Expensive, I don't know for sure about today.. maybe another answerguru can advise you of today's elements.

          honey comb shaped ceramics...once it falls apart it can clog your exhaust, because the pieces can block your exhaust flow.
