    I've got a very windy garden open aspect full sun I'd like plants which are fully hardy easy maintenance that flower (anything but white) maximum height 1 metre

    japonica is not a plant , it is description of the variety, jaonica simply means japanese in latin.


    Quince is the genus, check for a dwarf variety also the flowers are short lived in early spring.


    Different varieties of heathers that bloom during each season and can be easily maintained


    with a hair cut after blooming.Heather also performs well in exposed gardens.For more colour

    Thanks for your suggestions but I prefer something longer flowering and taller than marigolds, geraniums or heathers anymore suggestions please, I did have shrub roses which stood upto my conditions, but got fed up with the greenfly even though they were sprayed regulary. HELP

    I have always had good results with amaryllis and/or clivia.  Planting the two side-b-side in one corner of my yard has resulted in an unbelievably large number of  hummingbirds who sort of  "hang out" there.
