Senator Herb Kohl, Chairman of the US Senate Antitrust Subcommittee has written the FCC urging them to block the proposed AT&T buyout of T-Mobile stating that the buyout “would likely cause substantial harm to competition and consumers would be contrary to antitrust law and not in the public interest, and therefore should be blocked by your agencies.” He specially points out that T-Mobile would effectively be eliminated from the market. The Senator’s comments comes on the heels of T-Mobile’s announcement of their new Value plans which many believe AT&T would never offer.
