          Home Depot is one of the Dow Jones Industrial Average components, meaning it's one of the top companies in America.  It's also a part of S&P 100, 500, and a few other retail indices.  It definitely is still in business and is thriving despite the weak economy.  People are buying fewer homes and this forces them to repair their existing dwellings.
