I assume you are talking about your Favorites not being under the star symbol. There are also in the upper lefthand corner under the back and forward arrow keys under the word "Favorites".
If you haven't downloaded anything really valuable in the last couple of days you could try doing a restore (F11) and go back a day or two to get the star symbol back. It could potentially wipe out any new photos etc. that you put in so be careful with this option.
