        It will build muscles in your legs, and if you ride it fast enough to get your heart rate up and long enough to burn fat (more than 20 minutes at a time), it's a good workout for your heart.  Your target heart rate is 220 minus your age (for women it's 226 minus your age), and for fat-burning, you need to have your heart rate at 60-70% of that rate.
