I have a bamboo rug (with @1/2 inch slats) that has a slightly polyurethane coat with a satin sheen. I am trying to make it puppy proof and wondered if I would be able to add extra coats of poly (or something else) to make it impenitratable to urine + stains and also be able to roll it up again. Thanks!

Urine has high concentrations of ammonia, it can eat through what ever you can put on wood especially if it has time. Wood even the laminated 'fake' wood will absorb urine, even with several coats of poly on it. If there is a way to stop it, I haven't found it yet, the best thing I have found to protect wood is a waterproof sealer, hope this helps?
