    By undesirable, I suppose I meant "frowned upon as a "dirty" disease, like in the old days.

    Yes they do, they are contagious!

    But I was told Shingles were only contagious to those who have not been vaccinated (infants) and/or those who have never had chicken pox. Is this not correct?

    It is correct. So tell me why you think there is a stigma attached. Do you think people think you're dirty because you have shingles?
    Whilst shingles are certainly undesirable they do not have a stigma attached to them.

    I have had 3 bouts over a period of 30 plus years.

    I had chicken pox immunisation as a child plus small pox as a young man (when I joined the army)yet I still had shingles on 3 seperate occasions.
