    at what age can a child choose what parent he wants to live with?

    I've heard the age is 13. By the way, if the parent knows in his/her own heart that the child will be taken care of properly( with all the meaning properly entailes)  then for that childs own happiness, I believe the  parents should agree to let the child live with the parent the child chooses. Please do not allow  your own personal issues with your X  to keep your child from living in the home he/she will be the happiest in and thrive the most.  The child has suffered enough already because momma and daddy coudn't play house nicely with each other and now it's time for you both to put your differences aside. The mother is Not always the best choice.

    In Canada it is twelve. It seems pretty young to be able to make such a huge decision like that but it is law.

    one of my children asked this question in new mexico and it was 16
